Apple rolled out an AirPods Pro firmware update 2C54 in December last year, which may have adversely affected the Active Noise Cancellation feature of the premium wireless earbuds, according to website RTINGS. The website tested the isolation performance of the latest firmware update released by the Cupertino company. But, update enhanced the base accuracy and the frequency response of the AirPods Pro, and it is surprising that Apple has pulled the update.

Since Apple officially released the AirPods Pro to the consumers, it has released a couple of firmware updates for the wireless earbuds. Firmware update 2B588 was rolled out in Nov. 2019, while the most recent update was released on Dec. 16, 2019. But, it seems that the most recent firmware update is not perfect as some users claim that it might have affected the Active Noise Cancellation feature of the earbuds.

The website RTINGS affirms these claims, noting that the recent Apple AirPods Pro firmware update 2C54 rolled along with it "fairly significant drop in isolation performance." When users turn on the noise canceling, particularly in an environment with low-end noise like the train or plane engine, according to Wccftech. The noise cancellation feature in the bass range is not that good with the latest firmware update, the report adds.

While the update on AirPods Pro brings bad news for users who love its noise cancellation feature, it also introduces some improvements. Firmware update 2C54 improves the frequency response and offers much accurate bass. Apple, however, pulled out the update following its release for unknown reasons.

The initial assumption is that Apple pulled the AirPods Pro firmware update to fix the issue affecting the Active Noise Cancellation feature. Perhaps the next rollout might introduce something exciting for users. For users wondering the current firmware version of their AirPods Pro, they can easily check it.

First, connect the AirPods Pro to iPhone or iPad and go to Settings. Tap About, then AirPods Pro, and see the current firmware version of the earbuds. It is important to note that when users already upgraded their earbuds to the latest update, there is no way that they can downgrade it to the earlier version.

Hopefully, Apple would release a new firmware update soon. Apple AirPods Pro is the latest premium version of the company's truly wireless earbuds. The product was officially released on Sept. 2019 and was introduced as an upgrade from the second-generation AirPods.

One of its strongest features is the Active Noise Cancellation. Despite its premium retail price of $250, Apple AirPods Pro is selling like hotcakes and could not meet the current demand. Apple customers who placed their orders for the wireless earbuds on the company's official website are advised to wait for its arrival in February.
