Camilla Parker-Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall, attended a rare engagement along with her sister-in-law, Princess Anne. Prince Charles' wife graced the University of Aberdeen to confer the Princess Royal an honorary degree for her priceless contribution to the monarchy.
As the Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen, the future queen consort honored Princess Anne an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws. This honor acknowledged the contribution of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's only daughter to public life and the work she has done for the past 40 years.
According to Express, most of Princess Anne's work is done in Scotland. Some of the patronages and associations that she supported, which mostly focused on education and charity works, are said to be based in the said country.
"The Princess Royal has made a simply outstanding contribution to public life and sport for more than four decades, and much of her work relates to education and charities based in Scotland," the ceremony said about Princess Anne. The event was attended by about 400 people, which included university alumni, staff, students, industry leaders, and supporters of the institution and royals.
Hello! magazine noted that Princess Anne topped the list for the most hardworking royal in 2019. It was the third time in a row that she topped the poll. Last year, she worked for 165 days, while her brother, Prince Charles, followed by doing 125 official engagements.
Also, in the same year, Princess Anne sent Twitter into meltdown when a video of her went viral online. During the NATO summit in December, she seemed to be being chastised by her mother, Queen Elizabeth, for not greeting the U.S. President Donald Trump and the First Lady Melania Trump.
However, she was only telling her mom that the Trumps were the last in the queue of leaders that Her Majesty would receive at the reception. When asked who was next, Princess Anne said it was only her and their stuff. As she was not part of the official welcoming party, she just shrugged, raised both of her hands in the air, and laughed. "It's just me and this lot," she said while pointing to the members of the household behind her.
Meanwhile, Camilla is popularly known as the Duchess of Cornwall, but she is also the Duchess of Rothesay, a title she received upon marrying Prince Charles in April 2005. Aside from Princess Anne, she also awarded Professor Darbyshire with the honorary degree of Doctor of Science for her contribution to clinical science over the past 40 years.
