In December last year, Xiaomi Head of Global Alvin Tse said on Twitter that more news about the highly anticipated Pocophone F2 would be available in 2020. A few days ago, a trademark application in China surfaced online, which could be the first proof that the device exists. Now, a device named POCO X2 appears on a Geekbench listing.
POCO X2 On Geekbench
Geekbench shows the score of a device named POCO X2. The device runs on Android 10 and features 8GB of RAM. The device sports a Qualcomm processor with a base frequency of 1.80 GHz.
Additionally, the POCO X2 scores 547 on single-core and 1767 on multi-core performance. Interestingly, the name of the device's motherboard is phoenixin, which is a word we have seen in the past. XDA Developers in Nov. 2019, spotted the code name Phoenix on the MIUI 11 code.
The device, according to the previous report, features a side-facing fingerprint sensor, a 120 Hz refresh screen, and a Sony IMX686 sensor. Xiaomi eventually launched the Redmi K30 bearing the same code name. Based on this, it is possible that the code name phoenixin could be the Redmi K30 variant for the Indian market.
It is also worth noting that the Geekbench scores of the POCO X2 and the Redmi K30 are very similar. The Redmi K20 Pro has a code name Raphael; however, Xiaomi released it in India with the code name raphaelin. Based on these arguments, it is safe to assume that the POC X2 listing on Geekbench is the Xiaomi Redmi K30 variant releasing in India.
POCO F2 Trademark Application
Earlier this week, a Twitter user named The Tech Guy posted several images showing the trademark application submitted by Xiaomi for a device named POCO F2. The application was filed on Dec. 4, 2019, at the China Trademark Office. While some fans argue that the screenshots could be fake because the trademark was filed in a country where the brand is not even available.
But, Xiaomi also made the same application with the Pocophone F1 in Jun. 2018. A couple of months following the trademark application, Xiaomi released the POCO F1. If the trademark filing is to go by, fans could expect to see the POCO F2 in February or March 2020. So far, Xiaomi or Pocophone have not made any statement regarding the leaks linked to POCO F2.
At this point, since nothing is official yet about POCO F2, we recommend taking these details with a pinch of salt.
