The next generation gaming console war is on with both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X equipping powerful hardware to gain more users. Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan revealed earlier that major and unique features of PlayStation 5 are not yet revealed. Based on earlier reports, it looks like Sony has more exclusive titles for PlayStation 5 at launch than Xbox Series X.
Kotaku Journalist Jason Schreier revealed in a podcast a few weeks ago that Sony is keeping one of its strengths when it launches the PlayStation 5, reports Comicbook through Wccftech. The Japanese console maker has earned the hearts of many gamers because of exclusive titles it offers at launch. And, based on the journalist's statement, it seems that Sony is not only releasing exclusive titles at launch, but it's going to be a lot more than what the Xbox Series X would offer.
The journalist was asked about the exclusives and cross-generation titles of both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X at launch. The next installment to the "Assassin's Creed" series is going to be a cross-generation title along with other third-party games, according to Schreier. I have not heard anything about the first-party titles of Xbox Series X, but I'm sure it is going to be as usual as much stuff as possible, the journalist adds.
Microsoft would offer a lot less exclusive titles than Sony, Schreier notes. Earlier, Microsoft Head of Studios Matt Booty revealed to MCV that Xbox Series X would not have exclusive games from first-party studios until in the late part of 2021. According to the executive, this is the company's move to make sure that players will not feel like they have to make a choice between gaming platforms.
Talks on the next generation gaming console exclusives would be an ongoing development when comparing the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Since Sony has been successful in attracting more users by offering exclusive titles, it would definitely stick with its strategy and perhaps offer more. Meanwhile, Xbox Series X is taking a different road despite criticisms that it lacks exclusive titles.
Apart from Matt Booty's interview, details about PlayStation 5 exclusive titles are not yet official. We recommend taking this information with a pinch of salt and with criticisms. Also, a lot of things could still happen between now and the release window.
In other words, there might be changes in the information that we know today in the future. Meanwhile, Microsoft has already unveiled the Xbox Series X. Fans are looking forward to finally see the PlayStation 5 in February with rumors that it might officially reveal in a PlayStation Meeting.
