The Queen Mother would be upset by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to leave the royal family and step back from their royal duties. An unearthed video, recently, appeared on social media showing Queen Elizabeth's mom what her best advice was for grandsons Prince Harry and Prince William.

On Instagram, a friend of the royal family posted a video clip showing the Queen Mother imparting her wise words to Prince Harry and Prince William. She said that her fervent hope was they will would be brought up to "always put their country first, whatever happens."

In the post, family friend Basia Biggs said that she was in the room inside Clarence that day when Queen Mother was asked what her hope was for Prince Charles and Diana's boys. She said that the video has been hidden in the cupboard under her stairs for many years. She added that she knew it could be handy one day.

The Queen Mother's comments alluded she would likely not approve of Prince Harry's recent actions to give up his life as a royal and live as a private citizen in Canada with his wife Meghan and son Archie. Like Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother's life also immensely changed when her brother-in-law, King Edward VIII gave up the throne for love in 1936.

For her, King Edward VIII was being selfish and she blamed him for ruining their lives. According to Daily Express, the Queen Mother was not in favor of King Edward VIII's paramour, the American divorcee Wallis Simpson, for whom he abdicated everything. Meghan has been compared to Wallis as well.

The devoted wife of the King George VI, Queen Elizabeth's dad, the Queen Mother was consort for 15 years and always believed that duty to the Crown trumps everything else. She was also an adviser to her daughter for close to 50 years.

Prince Harry and Meghan decided to leave their royal life in favor of a peaceful existence. The couple admitted that they cannot handle the media scrutiny that is part and parcel of the work that they do as members of the royal family.

The Sussex pair are now staying in Canada. Queen Elizabeth expressed that she has allowed them to live as private citizens and will no longer be asked to serve the Crown. Their new arrangement, however, may be reviewed after a year.
