The Golden State Warriors suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss at the start of the week. The Trail Blazers won the game, but the spotlight was on Alec Burks, who top-scored for the Bay Area team and shone all night with little time to rest. There is little doubt that rival clubs are watching Burks.

For Burks, while Golden State is sure to not make past the regular game, the ongoing season is proving a favorable one. It was clear he has the confidence of Steve Kerr, who fielded Burks for 39 minutes in the losing effort against Portland. The veteran has become an asset, and the Dubs are fully aware of the fact.

NBC Sports said teams are taking notice because they know how Burks operate on the floor. It's nothing short of excellent.

"He'd be good to have around. He's a versatile wing, a proven scorer, a mature presence, and would be fabulous as part of a revamped second unit," the report said to described how valuable Burks has become.

Consequently, Burks' stock is on the rise as far as the trade market is concerned, and the Warriors can fully leverage such a flexible position.

"They can hold onto Burks and see if they can strike a deal to bring him back. Or they can move him for future assets, which still seems most likely," the report further predicted.

It comes as no surprise that Burks, who played in 42 games for the Warriors in the season, is now a hot item. Teams are certainly targeting him as there is no shortage of demand for dependable veterans who play with determination when deployed on the floor.

The attention that Burks has been getting is not expected to die down. Teams have been convinced that the shooting guard is able to deliver the goods. And he is a playmaker as well, always generous to create situations so his teammates can attack the basket.

And it helps that Burks is low maintenance. For a guy that regularly fires more than 16 points per outing and makes other noticeable contributions, Burks is close to dirt-cheap as his GSW salary is only $2.3 million.

Despite the fact that Golden State will be exiting early, Clutch Points said the team will be very much involved in trade dealings. Most likely, Burks will be at the center of these dealing. The player points to a smooth business discussion, so there will be numerous inquiries on him.

The Warriors are only willing to entertain these proposals, which should give the team a clear picture of Burks' worth.
