Former BIGBANG member Seungri has finally been indicted by the 30th Seoul Central prosecutor's office for violations of prostitution, foreign currency exchange, and gambling laws.
According to a report compiled by All Kpop from different news networks, Seungri will have to answer to charges related to the Burning Sun scandal including mediation of prostitution for potential business partners from December 2015-January 2016.
He will also be charged for habitual gambling in Las Vegas covering millions of won. The charges will also include allegations of illegal foreign exchange practices which he earlier denied.
Also included in the list of those indicted were Choi Jong Hoon for attempted bribery of a police officer. Jung Joon Young, who was earlier sentenced to six years in prison for molka and gang rape, will also have to face trial again for prostitution charges that are separate from his illegal filming and distribution of women's compromising videos.
Kim Sang Kyo, the whistleblower of the Burning Sun scandal was also indicted while Yoo In Suk, the former CEO of Yuri Holdings, will also face charges for embezzlement and prostitution at the Burning Sun establishment.
While prosecutors successfully indicted Seungri and Choi Jong Hoon, they will not be jailed for the duration of the trial. Jung Joon Young and the four others who are facing charges have requested summary court judgment which will not require a full trial.
Former YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk, who was also embroiled in the Burning Sun scandal, has not yet been indicted. Instead, his case for habitual gambling was transferred by the Seoul Central Prosecutor's Office to the Seoul Western Prosecutor's Office for continued investigation since his home is under their jurisdiction.
Early this month, the prosecution's petition for a warrant of arrest against Seungri was denied by a judge who found difficulty in determining Seungri's involvement in the charged lodged against him.
"The suspect has also cooperated in the investigations, and there is the possibility of contention within the charges," Judge Song Kyung Ho said in his decision.
It can be recalled that because of the scandal that resulted from various allegations, Seungri announced his retirement from the entertainment industry early last year to spare BIGBANG and YG Entertainment from the negative publicity surrounding the controversial Burning Sun case. He also deferred his mandatory enlistment to face his legal battles head on.
Yang Hyun Suk also stepped down as CEO of YG Entertainment after stocks plummeted due to allegations of his involvement in the Burning Sun case and illegal gambling practices.
