Meghan Markle was an actress before she met and married Prince Harry in 2018. The Duchess of Sussex may have found success after she joined the cast of Suits, but her way up to the Hollywood ladder was not that easy.

Before landing the role of Rachel Zane in the American legal drama television series, Meghan Markle settled for small roles in films and TV shows. With that said, the wife of Prince Harry did something not so Duchess-like in the past to get a job.

An old video of Meghan Markle unearthed where she called herself a “fraud.” The Duchess of Sussex allegedly lied to casting directors in an attempt to land a job.

The video was taken during the promotional appearance of Suits. The host then asked the panel about which role got them their first Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card. Meghan Markle admitted that she told casting directors that she was in an actors’ union when she wasn’t.

“I was Taft-Harteleyed, which is I pretended I was union.... and you have to... it was the pilot called Century City with Héctor Elizondo,” she said. “And I got there, and they’re like - so you're union. And I'm like of course, I'm union I mean yeah absolutely. And then I wasn't. To this day those casting directors will never hire me. I was such a fraud.”

It was previously reported that Meghan Markle may be returning to Hollywood after she and Prince Harry quit their senior royal life. An insider revealed that the former actress is “actively looking” for an agent or manager.

“Meghan is actively looking for representation. She has begun outreach,” the source said. “It can be a manager or an agent, but she’s reaching out to people to find someone to represent her for future professional projects.”

Part of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wish is to become “financially stable.” Since they are no longer working royals, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex need to find sources of income. Although they still receive funds from Prince Charles and the Duchy of Cornwall, they need more than that considering their lavish lifestyle.

In fact, Prince Charles’ handouts couldn't even cover the cost of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s multi-million mansion in Canada. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently living on a private mansion on Vancouver Island, Canada, which is worth $18 million Canadian (approx. US$ 13,633,200.00).
