BTS was formed because of RM. And despite his young age, he is considered to be one of the best leaders in the K-pop world.

With his talent and knowledge of the entertainment industry, RM could stand alone as a solo artist. In fact, he was given the choice to do just that in the past.

In an older episode of a Mnet prank show, Bang Shi Hyuk PD and the rest of the BTS boys teamed up to prank RM. To make it realistic, Bang PD called up Suga and J-Hope as well with the BTS leader for a “discussion.” Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were in another room, anxiously watching and listening to the whole thing.

Bang PD channeled his inner actor and expressed his frustration about the group not doing so well. If this will be the case, then he said that there’s no need for them to have a leader. Bang PD then suggested to RM that he should go solo if he wants to continue his music career.

Before ending the prank, Bang PD asked RM if he would consider the idea of going solo or he would stay with BTS. RM chose to be with his members without any hesitation. The four members in the waiting room were relieved and touched by their leader's answer.

Finally, Bang PD ended RM’s misery and told him that it was all a prank. The founder and co-CEO of Big Hit Entertainment then laughed that made Suga and J-Hope chuckle as well. RM looked shocked but mostly relieved that it wasn’t real.

Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook then joined them in the room with a huge smile on their faces. RM was visibly shaken by the prank that he started tearing up. Jin noticed it and quickly came up to him to see if he was okay.

It’s no secret that RM could carry a successful career as a solo artist. After all, he started as an underground solo act before joining Big Hit Entertainment.

However, RM may have felt more complete and at home with BTS. His quick response to choosing Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook than having a solo career proved that he wanted to be with them and build a successful career with the boys than being alone.

Fast forward to 2020, BTS is now the biggest boyband in the world. RM certainly made the right decision. Their hard work, perseverance, and teamwork finally paid off.
