Meghan Markle previously admitted that she is a “sucker” for Valentine’s Day. Although she celebrated the romantic celebration with her husband Prince Harry this year, this wasn’t the case in 2019.

The Duke of Sussex embarked on a 700-mile journey from Britain to Norway to meet the Royal Marines training in Arctic conditions. Prince Harry’s royal duty led him to leave Meghan Markle at home and spend Valentine’s Day alone.

And according to Meghan Markle’s now-closed lifestyle blog in 2015, she may not be too happy that Prince Harry was away on February 14. The former actress may have wanted to be with her husband at the time as her entry revealed that Valentine’s Day appeared to be very important to her.

"Hook, line and sinker, I am such a sucker for Valentine's Day,” she wrote. “Without fail, every February 14th, I wake up feeling like I'm immersed in a Robert Doisneau photo, waiting with bated breath to be dipped into a kiss. This is all happening in black and white, of course."

Now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be spending February 14 together every year as the pair announced last month that they will be stepping down as senior royals. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also let all 15 members of their UK staff go.

“It seems the final nail has been hammered in the separation of Prince Harry and his family thanks to the dismissals of their 15 staff members from the royal household who have been told they are ‘no longer required,’” UK-based broadcaster Neil Sean said. “I have been told quite a few staff members had hoped or offered to transfer over to Canada to continue a working relationship [because of] the fact they all loved [her husband] Prince Harry and working for him.”

While a lot of royal fans are already unhappy with Prince Harry’s decision, a royal commentator claimed that the Duke of Sussex’s desire to make his wife happy could be damaging to him. Angela Levin said that his choice may come at a cost to himself.

“What Meghan wants, Meghan gets,” she said. “I think to the detriment of Harry.”

The royal commentator then pointed out one of the main reasons why most people don’t like Meghan Markle. “I think it is very unfair to say criticism is racism. I think a lot of the criticism comes about because she lectures the public on how to behave but does not do it herself,” she said.
