Microsoft's next-generation gaming console Xbox Series X and Sony's PlayStation 5 are scheduled to arrive in the holiday of 2020. Fans are yet to see the official design of the PS5 since Sony earlier admitted that it is not yet ready to officially reveal the gaming console. Meanwhile, a new leak reveals an interesting detail about the GPU of both upcoming gaming consoles.

New Leak

The leak comes from Tomshw, which reveals that the technical specs of the next generation gaming console are a clear indication that it is far superior to that of Sony's PlayStation 5. It appears that the site got its leaked specs from the previous report released By Eurogamer. The new data underlines that the PlayStation 5 would feature 36 GPU clusters clocked at 2 GHz.

The silicon with the code name Oberon is reportedly crafted to function in three various modes. These are the Gen 0,1, and 2. It has a clock speed rating of 800 MHz, 911 MHz, and 2 GHz, respectively, reveals the site.

The PS5, based on the leak, has a memory bandwidth of 448 GB per second in Gen 2 mode, although it is possible to get 512 GB per second. In terms of GPU, the device could be reportedly configured in terms of ROP and core counts. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X, as per leaks, would have eight Zen 2 cores with undisclosed SMT clocks.

Its GPU reportedly bears 56 custom Navi compute units at approximately 1700 MHz. The memory of the Xbox Series X is a GDDR6 at 560 GB per second. As per Broadbandbullies, if these leaked specs are proven accurate, Microsoft's Xbox Series X would prove to be superior to the PS5 and would have specs equivalent to the high-end GPU.

Microsoft is also trying to improve on the launch titles of the Xbox Series X. Currently, several park development teams are supporting the upcoming Microsoft console. Xbox Studios tapped on several gaming studios like 343 Industries, Obsidian Entertainment, Rare, Ninja Theory, and many others for the development of its future titles.

Recently, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said in an interview that he does not view Nintendo or Sony as a direct competitor of the Xbox Series X. Spencer is setting his eyes on the game streaming industry, which is still at its infancy stage. The Xbox executive also hints that the team is preparing to take out Google Stadia with its experience and prowess in the gaming industry.
