Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have to rebrand after Queen Elizabeth II bans them from using their Royal Sussex brand. As this has been the name of their Instagram account and website, is it possible that these two will be shut down as their photo-sharing page only posts recycled snaps?
For the last month, the Sussexes only post photos from their previous engagements on Instagram after they dropped their bombshell announcement earlier this year, per Express. The last time they shared new images was when the Duchess of Sussex visited the animal charity Mayhew and the Duke of Sussex went to the U.K.-Africa Investment Summit 2020.
After that, they only shared pictures of their past engagements. The most recent post they had was a clip of Meghan Markle's time as a guest of British Vogue in September 2019. They also posted snaps from their 2018 Commonwealth tour once again to celebrate New Zealand's national day, the Waitangi Day.
To mark the International Day of Education, they posted pictures of Meghan Markle before she joined the royal family and, once again, Prince Harry's previous engagements. Other posts they shared were from Australia Day's Good News Movement and the Global Positive News that they followed for the month of February.
This news comes after Queen Elizabeth bans the two from using their royal brand, Sussex Royal. Hence, they may have to rebrand their name after the use of the word "royal" cast doubt to senior royals. Will they need to shut down their social media accounts and their website with the said name?
A royal source revealed the use of the word royal in Sussex Royal is being reviewed by Queen Elizabeth and other senior officials. If they decide to block the use of the name, it will surely be a big blow to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after they registered it as a trademark of their activities and merchandise, like clothing, stationery, books, and teaching materials.
Garter King of Arms Thomas Woodcock warned of the use of the royal word despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's departure. "I don't think it's satisfactory. One cannot be two things at once. You either are [royal], or you're not," he said, via The Times of London. "It is such unusual times that it is a matter of waiting and seeing how things develop."
If Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have to stop using their brand, it looks like they have to rename their website, register a new business, and change their social media handles. Hence, they have to rebrand.
