Sony Interactive Entertainment earlier announced that the PS5 would be available sometime in the holiday of this year. But the CEO of the Japanese company earlier said that there are lots of unannounced and exciting features that Cony has not yet revealed. It appears that a new Sony document spotted online offers another look at the alleged PS5 Dualshock controller and its possible game-changing feature.

New PS5 Patent

The official Sony document is in the form of a patent that was first spotted by Respawn First. It talks about the alleged next-generation controller of the PS5, the Dualshock 5. it also mentions the possibility of the controller using biofeedback technology.

This new technology could be allegedly used to monitor the sweat secretion levels and the heart rate of the user. With these collected data, the Dualshock 5 controller could adjust the gameplay of the video game accordingly. The patent also mentions "biofeedback information to select between one or more options presented in a piece of content without the user having to provide further input."

Additionally, it talks about the use of the user's electrodermic activity to track the response of the player. The illustration on the latest Sony document reveals that handles of the Dualshock 5 would serve as the receptors or receivers in monitoring the user's biofeedback. Perhaps, Sony would like to take advantage of the Dualshock 5's haptic feedback to gauge the experience of the player.

The Dualshock 5 controller patent also reveals that these detectors could be utilized to gauge how a user reacts or feels about the game or its gameplay. It also cites a video game with a horror genre and on how it could be adjusted to make the player nervous but not overwhelmingly terrified.

Other Details

Based on the illustrations revealed in the patent, both the heart rate and the sweat sensors are located in the sleeves of the PS5 Dualshock 5 controller. The imagery seems to show that it is a Dualshock 4 controller, but it is possible that Sony could easily place it in the PS5 controller. In the past, several patents filed by Sony mentioned the potential of introducing biometric sensors into the Dualshock controllers.

It can be recalled that the patent published by the US Patent and Trademark Office on Nov. 21, 2019, mentioned about the potential record data capability of the PS5 Dualshock 5 controller. It also mentioned heart rhythm, skin moisture, and even muscle movement. It looks like the recent patent supports the concept and further delve into the details of future technology.
