Queen Elizabeth II has been praised for her taste in music, but you may be surprised to know that she is a fan of this pop group. Kimberley Walsh revealed in a recent interview that Her Majesty seemed to be a fan of her former band, Girls Aloud.

The 38-year-old singer recalled the time the group met the Queen in 2012 after the Royal Variety Performance, the show's 100th anniversary that took place in the Monarch's Diamond Jubilee Year. She was surprised that the leader of the Commonwealth had great knowledge about their band that made her felt humbled.

At the time, after Girls Aloud performed their hit single "The Promise," they had a chance to meet Queen Elizabeth. Walsh told Daily Mail that Prince Philip's wife told them that she loved their dresses. As they were also on a hiatus during that moment, she was shocked when the Queen asked them if they were on a break. "So, she'd obviously done her research," she said.

Girls Aloud is a girl group that was born on the TV talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. It was comprised of five singers, Walsh, Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle, and Sarah Harding.

According to Express, they were named the U.K.'s biggest selling girl group of the 21st century for selling over 4.3 million singles and 4 million albums in the country alone. They performed for a total of seven years and gained critical acclaim. But after they took a hiatus, they eventually disbanded in 2013.

In addition, Walsh also remembered the heart-warming welcome Queen Elizabeth gave them. She praised her "nice warm vibe" when she met all their eyes and didn't fake her handshake. "I thought she made a real effort to connect," she added.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth is said to have an "eclectic taste in music." In the BBC documentary Our Queen: 90 Musical Years, it gave a nod to the music that Prince Harry's grandmother enjoys throughout the years.

Lady Elizabeth Anson, Queen Elizabeth's cousin, revealed she loves the theater and musicals. The tunes that remained in their head and were danceable, too, were from Snowboat, Oklahoma! and Annie Get Your Gun.

She, too, unveiled that Queen Elizabeth is a fantastic dancer and has a great rhythm. The documentary's presenter, on the other hand, described Her Royal Highness' musical taste as "mainstream, no airs, and graces." Some of her most favorite songs were "The White Cliffs of Dover" by Vera Lynne and "Cheek to Cheek" by Fred Astaire, among others.
