Microsoft has been aggressive in marketing its next-generation gaming console, the Xbox Series X. Long before its rival Sony unveiled the PS5, Microsoft revealed the upcoming gaming console and confirmed some of its specs, including its high teraflops compute and its CPU. An in-depth analysis recently claims that the CPU of the Xbox Series X could be at par with the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Ryzen 1600 AF.
Xbox Series X CPU Analysis
John Prendergast's blog site Hole In My Head shares his analyses on the upcoming next-generation gaming consoles, the PS5, and the Xbox Series X. With the latest confirmation coming directly from Xbox boss Phil Spencer, the blogger performed an evaluation and calculation on the CPU performance of Microsoft's upcoming gaming console. Spencer said that the CPU of the Xbox Series X is four times more powerful than the current generation Xbox One.
According to the site, the CPU processing power of the Xbox Series X is on the same level as the AMD Ryzen 1600 or Ryzen 1600 AF. The author based his calculation on different Cinebench results as well as UserBenchMark fro comparison. A week ago, it was confirmed that the Xbox Series X would feature audio ray tracing.
Microsoft reportedly would have a special panel at the recently postponed GDC to discuss more the rumored audio hardware acceleration.
Other Leaked Xbox Series X Features
A recent blog post from Microsoft shared several other features about its next-generation gaming console. Phil Spencer shared more details about Quick Resume functionality along with the advanced audio capability of the Xbox Series X. A couple of other features were shared by another Xbox executive.
Through the podcast of Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hyrb called Major Nelson, we learned more about these features revealed by Spencer. Hyrb explains that Xbox Series X users could pause and leave the video game similar to what the current generation console could do. But, the Quick Resume would enable users to do this to several games simultaneously.
Interestingly, Hyrb also reveals that the functionality does not end there. He explains that Xbox Series X users could do the Quick Resume function even if the gaming console is switched off. Aside from those, Hyrb also spoke to Jason Ronald, Xbox's partner director of program management, and talked about the immersive audio capabilities of the next generation gaming console. Ronald reveals that Ray Tracing is more realistic lighting that could even be used for spatial audio for the more immersive gaming experience.
