Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, is taking an active part in grooming his son, Prince William, the second in line to the throne, to become the king. The Prince of Wales apparently planned out Prince William's future quite well, from his education and his training to understand his duty as the future ruler.

Biographer Sally Bedell Smith revealed to Vanity Fair that Prince Charles and his advisers are now providing training to Prince William as he is soon taking over the Duchy of Cornwall. The Duke of Cambridge has apparently taken courses in land management and sustainability in Cambridge so that he can be immersed in the management of his father's vast estate.

Bedell Smith further revealed that Prince Charles and Prince William are working on a common goal. In particular, Prince William's Earthshot Prize initiative goes hand-in-hand with this father's decades of work on climate change.

Earthshot Prize was apparently designed to complement Prince Charles' Sustainable Markets Council. The father and son are working together to combat a growing global issue.

But the journey to this collaboration had its minor bumps. Initially, Prince William turned down Prince Charles' offer to take over his foundation, the Prince's Trust.

As the heir to the throne was taking on more roles, he actually wanted Prince William, and to some extent even Prince Harry, to step it up. However, at that time, Prince William had some misgivings and reluctance as the future king. For a brief moment, Prince Charles apparently feared that his legacy will disappear.

According to Daily Mail, Prince William also did not want to take over his father's foundation because he wanted to start his own organization with his wife, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. The Duke of Cambridge had different ideas on what he would be as the future king, which clashed with his father.

In the end, however, Prince Charles and Prince William have arrived at the same point. The latter has also embraced his increasing work in the royal family, with the help of his wife, Kate.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles' other son, Prince Harry, is charting a different path as he leaves his working royal role by March 31. The Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will announce their newest endeavors by mid-spring as they begin their life in Canada and the U.S., away from the royal cocoon.
