Kate Middleton and Prince William will soon celebrate the tenth year of their marriage. They now share three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
But, before officially tying the knot, it was revealed that their relationship started during the early 2000s. Some reports even stated that they were in a relationship for more than a decade before becoming officially the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after the wedding.
While the royal couple's relationship has been repeatedly praised and commended through the years, recent reports attested that the Duchess' father, Michael Middleton previously "denied" that his daughter was dating the soon-to-be King of England. This was said to come after the first set of rumors about their unconfirmed relationship emerged before the public.
According to Express UK, reporter Louisa Pearson revealed in 2003 that Kate Middleton's father shared with the press that his daughter and Prince William were just good friends. It was even shared that Michael Middleton explained the setup of their "flat" during their university days at St Andrews University.
He reportedly claimed that there were "two boys and two girls" sharing the flat, which includes the now-Duchess and Duke of Cambridge. So, it was not impossible why there were a lot of photos showing his daughter and the royal-born Prince in public. But, aside from this, "there is nothing more," Michael Middleton reportedly shared.
As explained by Cheat Sheet, Kate Middleton and Prince William first met in the university as they were both studying History of Art. While the details were left undisclosed, some sources attested that the romantic relationship between the two started during their second year in college.
For many years, though, the royal-born Prince reportedly hid the relationship from the public. Fans and experts were convinced that this was for their safety and privacy.
Nevertheless, the relationship was confirmed after a while. But, just like what everyone expected, the couple was immediately plagued with reports and public followers.
The same publication shared that this might be the very reason why Kate Middleton's father once denied the true nature of his daughter and Prince William's relationship. He just probably wanted to keep his daughter "safe," one expert commented.
Despite all the controversies, not to mention the two break-ups in between the decade-long relationship, they still ended up marrying each other in 2011. Since then, they have been living the royal life, preparing for their future roles as the King and Queen Consort, along with their three kids.
