Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip have been living far away from each other since the Duke of Edinburgh retired from royal duties in 2017. While he lives peacefully in Sandringham, the matriarch of the British Royal Family has continued to live inside Buckingham Palace fulfilling her royal duties and responsibilities.

It is not surprising that the Queen still chooses to serve the Monarchy. Besides, she repeatedly stated in the previous decades how she intends to give her all to fulfill her role as the Queen of the United Kingdom.

However, the royal couple is now facing the final years of their lives. Queen Elizabeth II is turning 94 in April, while Prince Philip will reach his 99th year in June. Accordingly, many are wondering what will happen then when one of them passes away in the next few years.

According to Express UK, several palace insiders and sources revealed that a "goodbye plan" has been already set in place when this happens. It was said that the royal couple may not be with each other when the unfortunate, yet imminent thing happens to one of them.

Even so, it was shared that they will be reunited in their "final resting place." As claimed, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be buried next to each other on the grounds of Windsor Castle, specifically in Frogmore Gardens.

But, in terms of preparations and coping up during the loss, the sources said that they will keep the "stiff upper lip" attitude before the public. It was further shared that Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip will keep their "emotions" to themselves amid the loss. Instead, they will reportedly focus on their faith as the royal couple is a very "religious."

In a similar report released by Cheat Sheet, the details of the preparations during the future losses have been also already laid out to the palace staff and aides. While no one knows how each one of them will pass away, the palace was said to already "envision" the events.

As added by the publication, when Queen Elizabeth II passes away, there will be 12 official days of mourning. In this period, the sources said that BBC cannot air any "humorous programs." Afterward, Prince Charles will immediately become the next monarch.

On Prince Philip's part, it was said that he does not want a "state funeral." He reportedly wants to only have 8 full days of mourning, especially when he passes away after the Queen's. However, the days of mourning may be extended to 30 days when he goes first before his wife.
