Biopics of famous musicians seem to be the trend now in filmmaking. The latest of which is the Bee Gees biopic and Hugh Jackman has been rumored to play one of Gibb's brothers.

A tabloid made a claim that the The Greatest Showman actor is currently in talks to play the role of Barry Gibb in the upcoming movie about their life and journey of the famous pop group in the 50s. According to the Globe, Jackman is already close in closing a $15 million deal to portray Barry.

A source of the outlet claimed Jackman actively campaigned to get the role. The insider alleged that the actor is fortunate that he was the first choice for the role as he has the confidence of the film studio as well as the producers of the project.

"The movie is going to explore the Bee Gees at the height of their success, during the Saturday Night Fever era, and Hugh is more than ready to perform the songs himself 100 percent...Hugh can't wait to get into character. He's been practicing his falsetto every day!" the source claimed.

Gossip Cop, however, dismissed the story. It stated that Jackman's spokesperson confirmed that the actor is not in any talks for the project. The publication also noted that the script for the biopic is still on the works and casting has yet to start.

Back in October 2019, Deadline reported that Paramount Pictures has bought the life rights of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers to the Gibb family estate which also gave them the right to use the band's classic songs in the movie. Paramount will reportedly team up with Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King for the Bee Gees movie.

Paramount has found success in making Elton John's biopic, Rocketman. With Paramount and King on the helm of the Bee Gees biopic, it is now expected that whoever the actors that will portray Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb would sing all of the famous songs of the group like what Taron Egerton did as Elton John in Rocketman. It can be recalled that Robin's vibrato vocals and Barry's falsetto were their signature sound during decades.

Meanwhile, aside from debunking the Globe's latest false claim, Gossip Cop also noted that the outlet's sister publication, the National Enquirer, also claimed in 2018 that actors Ryan Gosling, Mel Gibson, and Michael Douglas were in talks to portray George Michael in the big screen. A year before that, the Enquirer also alleged that Miley Cyrus and Paris Jackson are fighting over Madonna's biopic.
