Following the success of his recent drama Dr. Romantic 2, Ahn Hyeo Seop sat down for an interview to reveal the real score between him and his co-star Lee Sung Kyung.
Because of their strong chemistry in Dr. Romantic 2, fans have been shipping the two actors who happen to both be single at the time of the filming of the drama.
Ahn Hyeo Seop played the character of the talented but troubled general surgeon Seo Woo Jin who ends up in Doldam Hospital after being ostracized by colleagues in the main hospital and being chased by loan sharks. Lee Sung Kyung played the role of Cha Eun Jae, an intelligent cardiothoracic surgeon who suffers from nausea when doing surgeries in the OR. She also ends up in Doldam after falling asleep during surgery after taking anti-nausea drugs to operate.
The pair received a lot of support from fans who rooted for the blossoming love story of Seo Woo Jin and Cha Eun Jae as they found their passion for medicine in the confines of a country hospital. However, even as fans of the show cheered for the on-screen partnership, they also hoped that the two stars would end up dating.
In response, Ahn Hyeo Seop talked about his relationship with his co-star on the set of the drama and said that there was some awkwardness at the beginning which they later overcame as they grew closer with the filming.
"The relationship between us was awkward at first. I worried a lot about that, but overall it was helpful for the progression of the story. Eun Jae and Woo Jin are very awkward around each other at first, so it helped. Lee Sung Kyung is overflowing with energy, so she gives me strength when I'm tired. She took care of me in subtle ways and we had a lot of fun filming," he said.
Ahn Hyeo Seop also shared the secret for the successful filming of his kissing scene with Lee Sung Kyung which fans of Seo Woo Jin and Cha Eun Jae waited for 16 episodes to see. Ahn Hyeo Seop said that it was one of the final scenes that were filmed but the pressure was high since it was a passionate scene that culminated in the relationship of the two main characters of Season 2.
"I took out a bottle of wine from the director's car and proceeded with the kiss scene while drinking a cup or two of the wine. Thanks to the wine, we were able to wrap up the scene," he confessed.
As for future roles that he would like to take on, Ahn Hyeo Seop said he would like to take on different characters. He said he wanted to be an actor who always wanted to learn, Koreaboo reported.
