Supergirl season 5 episode 15 will be airing later this week on The CW, with the title "Reality Bytes." This will be an important episode for Nicole Maines' Nia Nal a.ka. Dreamer, as it will see the character doing her best to defend her friend, as well as the transgender community. She is determined to protect the people close to her from additional harm.
The CW released the preview of Supergirl season 5 episode 15, where it sees Kara taking a break from superhero life and leaving Nia to save the National City. However, she will have a personal mission after a man attacked one of the people close to her. He wants to take down Dreamer because of who she is, but Nia is ready to fight back.
In the upcoming episode, a man targeting Dreamer attacks Nia's roommate, Yvette. This man does not like Dreamer because she's a transgender and he wants her to quit being a superhero. But then, Dreamer steps up and refused to give in to his threats. In fact, she even puts herself in the line of fire just to stop this man from causing more chaos.
This is a big story for Nia/Dreamer, especially since it would touch some elements about who she is. The series has already explored her powers and origins, and for the next episode, it would explore more about her being a transgender. Her story is not just about defending the people close to her and the transgender community, but it would also highlight why equality is important.
In a report via Comicbook, Maines said Nia's transness is a huge part of the character's identity. She explained that although it's not the only part of her identity, not every episode of the series focuses on Nia being a transgender. But in Supergirl season 5 episode 15, Maines explained, her character's transness would play a "big part in her powers and how her powers manifest and her relationship with her family."
Nia will prove that she's capable of doing anything regardless of gender. What's also good about this episode is that Supergirl also stands by her and will enlist Brainy for additional help. But aside from Nia's story, the upcoming episode will also feature Alex, J'onn, and Kelly rescuing a man who was stuck in a virtual reality escape room.
Supergirl season 5 episode 15 arrives on Sunday night, Mar. 15, on The CW.
