Google may have underestimated the keen eyes of tech junkies and nonchalantly listed Samsung's upcoming Galaxy M11 in its Play Store-supported devices roster. The listing was spotted before the South Korean behemoth had the chance to officially reveal the device to the world.
The Google Play Console listing was first spotted by TechieJerry, which shows the phone's specs and not surprisingly, a render. The Galaxy M11 is estimated to sport a 6.1-inch screen -- this according to the device's resolution at 1560 x 720 combined with its 280ppi pixel density. Note that the screen size has not been explicitly stated.
Samsung's upcoming Galaxy M11 will be powered by Android 10, believed to be the company's One UI Core 2.0. RAM is capped at 3GB, the phone's guts running on a midrange Snapdragon 450 along with an Adreno 506 CPU.
That's about all the known info for now, but it sure is official, given the Galaxy M11 has been given the green light for Play Store use. It's only a matter of time before we hear an official word from Samsung regarding the upcoming device's official reveal.
In other Samsung news, the tech behemoth has revealed that it ultimately dominated the 5G smartphone market, shipping nearly 7 million 5G smartphones in 2019. According to the company, it amassed 54% of the global 5G market last year.
Samsung's success is echoed by Counterpoint, a smartphone model sales tracker, which claims that the company acquired even a bigger share of the 5G smartphone market in the United States.
In the U.S., Samsung grabbed 74% of the 5G smartphone market for the year 2019, followed by fellow South Korean company LG at 15%, with OnePlus placing 3rd at 11%.
The Galaxy M11 is expected to sport a high price tag, which is a norm for all Samsung smartphones, but this isn't apparently an issue. Last year, its Galaxy Note 10+ even became the top-selling 5G smartphone, ahead of the Galaxy S10 5G. Counterpoint says that Samsung's triumphant reign in the 5G smartphone market is all due to the many trade-in and financing options offered by popular carriers around the globe.
Android phones with support for 5G networks became the hottest grab in 2019, and industry experts believe that its popularity will continue to grow this year. In 2020, affordable 5G smartphones ranging from $500 and up are expected to launch, which is extremely good news for consumers worldwide.
