South Korean tech and electronics giant Samsung recently launched its flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S20. Aside from its advanced specs, some consumers would like to know the durability of the device. Fortunately, a third-party warranty provider recently conducted a breakability test to all three Galaxy S20 models, and you'll be surprised at the result.
Third-party warranty company Square Trade recently conducted a breakability test on Samsung's latest flagship smartphone series. Each Samsung Galaxy S20 model was put to the test and given their respective score, which ranges between 0 and 100. The model that got the higher number is most likely the first to break. Each phone will undergo a series of tests, which include bending, tumbling, dropping, dunking, and repairability.
Based on SquareTrade's score sheet, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra., which got a 70 score. Next in line is the galaxy S20 Plus, which earned a score of 71. Finally, the model most vulnerable to breaking based on the said test is the Galaxy S20 with a test score of 81.
The report claims that the Samsung Galaxy S20 completely shattered its screen during the first 6 feet drop. The model is also the only variant to malfunction following a bend test. It was also the model that fared the worst at the company's tumble test. However, the Galaxy S20 fared well in the water submersion test.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Ultra, which is the thinnest and the most expensive variant only bent when it reached the highest pressure. Despite this, the unit is still functional. It also suffered hairline fractures to its glass when it undergoes a face drop test. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra beat its siblings in the Material test and fared well in the tumble test, which lasts for a minute.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus, on the other hand, was essentially the same as the S20 Ultra in terms of breakability score. Compared to the more expensive variant, it bent faster and did not handle the face drop test better. It is worth noting that SquareTrade used a machine to bend the Samsung Galaxy S20 series models.
In other words, those who think that the devices would bend in normal use, it is not possible. The smartphones are made of Aluminum, which, as we know, is a robust material. Although the Galaxy S20 Ultra emerged the more resilient device when it comes to breakability, the higher the score the device gets, the more it is prone to break.
