Miley Cyrus has been known to be very close to her family. Their opinion matters to the singer. New rumors emerged that Miley's dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, is against her relationship with Cody Simpson, and the singer doesn't care about what her father thinks of her boyfriend.
According to the Globe, the country crooner called Miley's boyfriend a "boring doofus." The tabloid claimed Billy Ray has been begging to the "Wrecking Ball" singer to break up with the Australian singer/model. A source of the outlet also alleged that the Cyrus patriarch thinks Simpson is a "poor imitation" of her daughter's ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth.
The insider then made a more serious claim that Billy Ray likes Hemsworth more than Simpson because he "loved smoking weed" with The Hunger Games actor. Cody, on the other hand, only talks about boring stories of surfing and the movies he had watched or starred in. The source, however, alleged Miley is standing on her beau and doesn't care if her dad doesn't like him.
Gossip Cop dismissed the Globe story. It cited a trusted source close to Cyruses, who assures that it is all rumors. Though Billy Ray did publicly express his approval and affection of Hemsworth for his daughter, it doesn't mean he opposed Miley's current boyfriend. Back in 2013 when Miley and Liam first broke up, Billy Ray said in an interview that what is important to him is his daughter's happiness.
As for Cody, he doesn't look like having a problem with Miley's family. The Cyruses seem to have been accepted in the family.
In fact, he did spend a lot of holidays and special occasions with the Cyruses. He also joined Miley and Billy Ray in a holiday party co-hosted by his girlfriend's charity, the Happy Hippie Foundation. The "Achy Breaky Heart" singer posted a video of that event on his Instagram account. In the clip, Cody can be seen singing along with the father and daughter in an acoustic rendition of Lil Nax X and Billy Ray's hit song "Old Town Road."
Miley Cyrus has been in the center of tons of rumors since she started dating Cody Simpson in October 2019. Just this week, the Hannah Montana actress is rumored planning a beach wedding with Cody at the Gold Coast, the latter's hometown in Australia. The two allegedly intended to tie the knot after Miley's bushfire relief concert in Melbourne this week.
The concert has also been postponed and the singer has also announced that she has called off her trip Down Under because of the coronavirus outbreak. Gossip Cop noted that it reached out to a source close to the situation, who confirmed that the alleged Miley-Cody wedding is not true.
