The COVID-19 has paralyzed practically anything in the world and HMD Global is one of them. With the pandemic outbreak, it appears that its scheduled Android 10 update will be delayed (anew) for select Nokia phones. And while this is understandable, the fact that the update should have been out a long time ago may not sit well with their customer base.

It should be noted that it is not that simple to roll out a software update. Also, Nokia has had the knack of being late when it comes to Android updates since they do have to make adjustments and tweaks for their fleet of devices. But in all, it does place the credibility of HMD Global in dark water with most knowing that the company could have rolled it out a long time ago, Slashgear reported.

Hence, only the Nokia 2.2 remains on schedule as far as getting the Android update. But the case is different from the rest with HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas announcing that other updates will be pushed to the second quarter of the year at the latest. There is a chance that some may get the Android update between the first and second quarters of the year but this is likely to cover only a few unspecified Nokia models. A visual picture on Sarvikas announcement can be seen via his tweet below. If folks will scroll down the tweet, most may notice that there are a lot of people who are pretty unhappy and are requesting them to improve their services of rolling out these important updates.

HMD Global has trying its best to roll out updates as early as they can and their track record is proof to that. Several devices are running on Android 10 like the Nokia 9 Pureview, 8.1, 7.1, 7 Plus, 6.1, and 6.1 Plus. Unfortunately, the coronavirus has stalled their plans and this is a development nobody really wanted.

Also, it would be best to note that this may not be the only thing that Nokia is dealing with right now. Like other companies, HMD Global has to deal with manufacturing and shipping delays. These will affect the company in terms of earnings just like other companies like Apple and or Samsung. Further, it may also affect the release of new devices on their end. Already struggling to rise across the ranks in the mobile phone industry, HMD Global finds itself in an even bigger mess than most think.
