HMD Global is scheduled to hold an event on August 21, 2018, in India and the widespread belief is that one of the devices likely to be revealed is the Nokia 6.1 Plus. The global variant of the Nokia X6 already launched in Taiwan and Hong Kong in July and retails for about $290.

As far as India is concerned, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is more likely to be sold a bit cheaper mostly because of its rival phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. The set date was initially teased by HMD Global on Twitter, kicking off a contest where the winners would get the chance to attend the launch event in India. Aside from the Nokia X6 variant, other devices that could be introduced include the Nokia 2.1 and the Nokia 5.1, Gizmo China said.

Media invites have already been sent out with the most eager to see the Android One smartphone. The Nokia 6.1 Plus will sport a 5.8-inch full HD+ (2280x1080 pixels) display screen with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset with Adreno 509 GPU and backed by 4 GB of RAM, Fone Arena said.

The device will also have 32 GB/64 GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 400 GB via microSD. The phone is dual-SIM ready and comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box (upgradeable to Android P). Power will be stored and provided by a 3,060 mAh battery featuring Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology.

With regards to the built-in cameras, the Nokia 6.1 Plus will tote a 16 MP rear camera with dual LED flash. It will also have a 16 MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.

Other notable features the Nokia 6.1 Plus will carry include a fingerprint sensor, a 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5, USB Type-C, 4G VoLTE and WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz) connectivity. The device will also come with Face Unlock support.

Based on various reviews, the Nokia 6.1 Plus looms as a durable and yet attractive handset sporting an impressive HD screen. It stands as an ideal budget phone to consider although there are some who features most may not rave about. This is with regards to the single rear camera with most already exposed to other devices offering dual camera technology, Tech Radar said.

The battery of the Nokia 6.1 Plus reportedly lasts for only a day and the audio leaves a lot to be desired. But considering its price range, most must remember that this is a budget-friendly smartphone that may not address the rants of picky buyers.
