It seemed Paul Pogba has realized he has a lot of catching up to do and the, so the Frenchman is reportedly training beyond the appointed time. The midfielder, sidelined by injury woes for the better part of the season, is said to be putting in more time to accelerate his return to fitness.
Pogba has been training 30 minutes more after the rest of his Manchester United teammates have left, purportedly to ready up on his scheduled return to action.
The Sun reported that the World Cup winner is getting help from former teammate and now United's first-team coach Michael Carrick. The two spend a half-hour personal training session that Pogba hopes will bring him to speed when the Premier League resumes the games.
In a way, the game suspension favors the United striker as he has more time to get back to his winning form. Pogba has been struggling in the term as he was largely forced out of action, with only seven appearances to his credit in all competitions.
The report said: "Pogba has been putting in 'real graft' with first-team coach Carrick away from the main group of players."
Specifically, the extra time committed by Pogba to his workouts aims to optimize his mobility. It is hoped that with the training he is putting in, the Frenchman will be ready when he returns to the pitch with the rest of the Red Devils.
The desire by Pogba to achieve physical fitness once he is deployed for hard action again is also viewed as his way of telling United that he now considers staying. The midfielder has been long rumored to leave Old Trafford, and it might just happen when the summer transfer window opens up.
Pogba is tipped to make a jump soon, and his destination could be Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, or back to Juventus.
But according to Metro, he now flirts with the idea of staying with the side of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and one reason is that the English club has started winning. Before the games were suspended, the Red Devils were on a winning run and pocketed 11 straight wins.
One man credited to the club's reversal of fortune is Bruno Fernandes, and Pogba appeared to be an admirer of the former Sporting star. If indeed Pogba has decided to stay, one reason is he wants the chance to play with the Portuguese goalscorer.
The tandem, in fact, is something that Solskjaer is looking forward to play out and work to the advantage of United. Pundits said Pogba and Fernandes on the pitch for the Red Devils, plus with the young Scott McTominay, will surely make the United midfield unstoppable.
