Just like other senior members of the royal family, it has become a staple to have a TV engagement interview of royal couples, and Princess Anne was no exception. Back in the year that she was newly-married, the Princess Royal answered questions about her union with Captain Mark Phillips, shutting down an interviewer and insisting she was not a "useless" wife.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's only daughter was asked if she would have married out of a sense of duty if she didn't meet a man that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She simply said that there was no way she would do that, to which her then-husband quipped that he was glad she said that.

From here, a series of questions came, and some of them seemed to annoy the Princess, trying to make it looked like she didn't know a thing about house chores. Princess Anne was asked if she would be a good housewife and if she could cook. "Well, that's hardly up to me to say, it? Yes, I've done a bit of cooking in my time," she said, via Express.

Phillips then proudly added that she would recommend his then-wife's scrambled eggs. The question went further when the interviewer also asked her if she could cook her former spouse's breakfast. The equestrian disclosed that it was an easy thing to do, especially that Phillips only had a cup of coffee in the morning.

However, Princess Anne seemed to lose her cool when she was even questioned if she could sew on a button. "Yes, I'm not completely useless! I was quite well-educated one way or another," she irritatingly said.

People who watched the interview on YouTube described the questions as "sexist and dreadful." Fortunately, Princess Anne has been known for being a "strong-willed, no-nonsense woman" that she managed to answer the questions with ease.

Princess Anne married Phillips in 1973. He was also an equestrian, who won a gold medal for Great Britain in the 1972 Munich Olympics. According to Harper's Bazaar, the former couple first met in 1968 at a party for horse lovers.

After five years, she announced their engagement that was followed by a wedding in the same year. The royal wedding at Westminster Abbey was also seen on TV and reportedly watched by over 500 million people around the world. They were then blessed with two kids, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips. Sadly, after 13 years together, they separated in 1989 and got officially divorced in 1992.
