Queen Elizabeth II has to leave London for a while to move to Windsor Castle as a safety precaution in the midst of worsening case of coronavirus outbreak in the U.K. Royal fans are said to be worried about this move as Prince Harry also has to isolate himself after being around people who have been close to others who tested positive of COVID-19.
Buckingham Palace announced Her Majesty had to move to her Windsor estate for the Easter break on Thursday, March 19, one week earlier than planned. According to New Idea, royal insiders believed Her Royal Highness had to stay there beyond the Easter period due to the widespread of coronavirus in the country.
Aside from Queen Elizabeth, there will also be changes in The Queen's diary as a "sensible precaution and for practical reasons in the current circumstances." In line with the Medical Household and Government's advice, several royal public engagements with large gatherings that would be attended by the monarch and other members of the royal family in the coming months had to be canceled or postponed.
The Guardian noted that officials are all concerned for the safety of Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip. Buckingham Palace already canceled the monarch's scheduled engagements in Cheshire and Camden to avoid the gathering of large crowds as these events might attract a lot of people.
After consulting Queen Elizabeth's medical household and the Government, other planned events for the coming months are also now canceled as part of the unprecedented measures to combat the widespread of coronavirus. These events include the Maundy Service at St George's Chapel on April 9 and the three garden parties at Buckingham Palace in May.
Guests who already received invites for these events would be asked to come in 2021 instead. The two additional garden parties for the Not Forgotten Association and the National Trust would also be postponed.
In addition, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are also following appropriate measures over the coronavirus pandemic. It is believed that the Duke of Sussex has been exposed to the virus during his final royal engagements in the U.K.
To recall, Queen Elizabeth's grandson hugged the Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton as they opened the Silverstone Experience Center on March 6. Sadly, two days before that, Hamilton was seen at the WE Day UK charity events in London with Edris Elba and Sophie Trudeau, who both tested positive of coronavirus.
