Sophie, Countess of Wessex, is finally back in good shape. After canceling her engagements last week due to illness, Prince Edward's wife is now back at work to meet the Defense Medical Welfare Service at St James's Palace.

Despite the coronavirus outbreak, the 55-year-old royal continues her duty as the patron of the charitable organization. This charity helps and supports the Armed Forces community and other frontline staff whenever they need medical treatment.

In 2016, Sophie visited the DMWS's headquarters to meet the staff members, service users, and trustees. At the time, she learned about its works and impact over the last 75 years, Hello! Magazine noted.

Sophie is also the Grand President of the St John Ambulance, one of DMWS's parent organizations. Aside from that, she, too, is the Colonel in Chief of the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps and DMWS Welfare Officers work all over the world.

Last week, Sophie had to cancel three royal engagements in Yorkshire due to poor health. But before that, Business Times recently reported that she joined her husband to do his royal duties in Essex on the day of his 56th birthday.

Prince Edward had to cancel the celebration of his natal day to work on behalf of his mother. However, it was not only the Earl of Wessex who canceled his plans for his special day as his wife also did the same thing on her 55th birthday on January 20. At the time, the Wessexes had to go to Buckingham Palace to help Prince William and Kate Middleton host a reception for the U.K. Africa Investment summit.

Although Sophie is known for her hard work and uncomplaining attitude, she had no choice but to cancel her visit to Yorkshire. A spokeswoman announced the cancellation, explaining that she was unwell. "It is hoped that the visit will be rescheduled in due course," the spokesperson said.

One of the three locations that Sophie was supposed to visit was The Old Fire Station in Gipton, Leeds. The Bournemouth-based club acknowledged her absence and also announced on Twitter that she couldn't make it to their place, explaining she was sick and had to cancel the scheduled visit.

After the community hub wished for Sophie's speed recovery, it then confirmed that her illness had nothing to do with the spreading coronavirus pandemic. It then just said that It would be looking forward to welcoming Her Royal Highness in the future.
