Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles are forced to self-quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. Her Majesty is the monarch of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, and the current Counselors of State are Prince Philip, the Prince of Wales, Prince William, Prince Harry, and Prince Andrew. However, most of the members are not capable to perform their duties at the moment.
Prince Philip already retired in 2017, Prince Charles is on self-quarantine, Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have already quit their royal duties. This only leaves Prince William as an active counselor.
Now, a royal poll revealed that the public believes that Prince William should step up for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles. The poll asked: “Should William act as stand-in King to save Queen from coronavirus risks?” and 87 percent of the voters answered yes. Only 249 (12%) out of 2010 voters said “no,” and 21 voters (1%) said, “don’t know.”
One voter pointed out that being the apparent heir to the throne, Prince Charles should be the one to stand-in for Queen Elizabeth during this global health crisis. "It should be Prince Charles, our rightfully decreed King-in-Waiting, who stands in for HM the Queen, should the need arise. Prince William must stay in-line. He'll be King one day. God Save our Queen,” they said.
But many noted that just like Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles’ age also put him in the category of most at risk of suffering severe complications from the coronavirus.
"The British Government has insisted that EVERYONE over 70 goes into isolation,” the voter said. “Obviously that includes the Queen aged 93 but it also includes Charles aged 71. That is why they are talking about William having to step up as both his father and grandmother are now in the age-based isolation (as are all the working royals other than Anne, Edward, Sophie, Catherine, and William).”
Meanwhile, a result of a previous poll revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not needed in the UK during this difficult time. The poll read: “Should Meghan Markle and Prince Harry return to the UK to be with the Royal Family?” Over 6,000 people responded to the survey with a vast majority responded “no.” Eighty-eight percent (5,575 votes out of 6,396) said “no,” 11 percent (711 votes) said “yes,” and 1 percent (110 votes) said they “don’t know.”
