Meghan Markle was already a part of the entertainment world before meeting and marrying Prince Harry, so many believed that the younger son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana finally found his match. However, a royal expert claimed that the former actress is just like the Duke of Sussex’s ex-girlfriends.
Prince Harry is not only a real-life Prince, but he is also one of the most popular members of the Royal family. With that said, fans and critics watch his every move, and this constant attention was too much for his ex-girlfriends to handle.
But being in the limelight was already a part of Meghan Markle’s life even before she and Prince Harry started dating, so many had their hopes up during their relationship. She started her career in the entertainment world as a briefcase model on the game show Deal or No Deal. She then became a struggling actress before landing the role of Rachel Zane in Suits. However, a royal expert said that the Duchess of Sussex also failed just like her husband’s exes.
"Cressida had been 'completely spooked' while watching TV coverage of William, Kate, and George touring New Zealand and Australia that spring,” Royal biographer Katie Nicholl wrote about one of Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriends Cressida. “There was no way she wanted that sort of attention and she told Harry so."
The same thing also happened to Prince Harry’s first love Chelsy Davy. Many believed that the pair would eventually tie the knot, but Chelsy broke things off with the prince to have a more private life.
"A friend revealed that seeing the enormity and pomp of the day convinced Chelsy that she and Harry had been right to separate,” Royal author Angela Levin revealed. ”Although they had a lot in common, she saw clearly that because they came from such different worlds it could never have worked, especially as she valued her privacy and guarded it so carefully."
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams then said, that many thought Meghan Markle could cope with the pressure of the limelight, but they were wrong.
“What could have been was graphically illustrated in the success of their official visit to South Africa until the end. They were superb in networking crowds. They have a huge global profile, their marriage was proof the monarchy was far more contemporary and they would, we thought, be part of its ‘inner core’ in the future,” he said, but then added that “former girlfriends couldn’t cope with the pressure of the limelight, we thought Meghan could.”
