The Golden State Warriors have the worst record in the NBA before the league halted operations and have a lot of work to do. It all starts at the 2020 NBA Draft where they will have an opportunity to take in a lottery pick after a long while. But the better question is do the Dubs need anyone, in particular, to fill in key positions in the roster?

There are several names seen as plausible choices for the coming 2020 NBA Draft. Anthony Edwards and James Wiseman head the list. There is also LaMelo Ball, someone who has been drawing raves the past months. But for the Warriors, none may end up making sense if they are unable to reel in a player fit their needs.

Edwards and Ball are guards positions that may not be appealing unless either is willing to work their way up the Warriors roster. If either is picked, they are likely to spend more time on the bench than on the basketball court. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson remain head coach Steve Kerr's top guns and the only way Edwards or Ball could move up is if one is unable to play.

Regardless, the Dubs are carefully evaluating the top prospects in the coming NBA Draft. According to Drew Schiller, Kerr has already been given a list of 7 to 8 players that general manager Bob Myers wants to be scouted. The names were not revealed but are likely to include the top names mentioned earlier.

One position that the Warriors need to address is the middle. Wiseman looms as the logical choice but his skills are limited. While he can be a good rim protector, he shoots less and is not a good passer. Rather than take him in and try to develop, the Dubs would be better off checking the available big men in the free-agent market.

Edwards looms as the favorite to be the top pick and it appears Golden State would do well to pick him up. On whether he stays or not, he is the player with the most value. If he is unable to blend in, the Warriors can explore options such as a trade.

"Edwards finished his freshman year averaging 19.1 points and 2.8 assists, distinguishing himself with advanced shot-creation, distance pull-ups, streak scoring, and ball-screen playmaking. Even after the addition of Andrew Wiggins, Kerr could still use Edwards in a variety of ways to take more pressure off Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson," Jonathan Wasserman of the Bleacher Report said.

Playing time will be in question if Edwards is taken in. If the Warriors come back in full strength, that looms as an issue for the next NBA season.
