The United Kingdom is now in lockdown due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the country. Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are now in isolation as they are more susceptible to catch the disease. In fact, the Prince of Wales already turned out positive, so the reigns seem to be now handed to the second in line to the throne, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton.
Royal expert Phil Dampier told New Idea that the Cambridges now have a very important role to play in the monarchy. As other senior royals are now in isolation, they will be the only visible royals that will be seen. This time, they will be the face of the royal family.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are now put in high regard across the U.K. and the world, especially when Prince Harry and Kate Middleton stepped down as senior royals. After their tour of Ireland, they made an "extensive coronavirus outreach program."
The Kensington Royal also shared a video of him on Instagram, talking about the coronavirus. Later, he, along with his wife, visited the London Ambulance Service 111 Control Room and the NHS service in Croydon, thanking all the frontliners for their sacrifices and services.
"They hopefully appeal more than the Queen to a younger generation, a lot of whom possibly aren't taking in how serious coronavirus is," Dampier said. "People look up to them, and they'll bring strength and support."
However, it remains to be seen how Prince William and Kate Middleton will continue their public duties amid the coronavirus outbreak. Just like other senior royals, they, too, move to Norfolk with their kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, for safety after the schools shut down.
Dampier revealed that although they may never take unnecessary risks to be out there, they will surely "do as much as they can." Express added that their secret visit to London Ambulance Center might be the last time they would be visible in public during the U.K. lockdown.
The royal couple is maybe now busy homeschooling Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Earlier reports revealed that some students of Thomas's Battersea, where the two Cambridge kids study, were exposed to the coronavirus and now waiting for their test results. Although Prince William and Kate Middleton surely have royal nannies, they seem to be hands-on parents with their kids, teaching them through online learning platforms.
