The iPad Pro is a powerful tablet from Apple and some feel it could pass as an alternative to the traditional personal computer (PC). Thanks to newly introduced components such as the Magic Keyboard, that is possible. However, this is only applicable if a consumer is willing to shell out additional cash to transform it into one.

On its own, there is no question that the iPad Pro is oozing with power and potential. The 2020 model boasts of an A12Z Bionic Chip, making it 10 percent faster compared to its 2018 predecessor. Geekbench scores have the data to support that, including a comparison where it performed better than the 2016 MacBook.

As far as interface is concerned, the 2020 iPad Pro will come with trackpad support that will be available with the next iPadOS update. Pair that up with the Magic Keyboard and a smartpen, anyone could become productive with a less bulky mobile computing solution anywhere they may be. But given all these innovations, there are still some shortcomings that will make anyone think twice.

The essential part of it all is the cost of having the iPad Pro and the mentioned components together. By default, the Apple tablet does not come with the Magic Keyboard, meaning it has to be bought separately.

The base price for it is $300 for the $799 11-inch variant of the iPad Pro while the bigger $999 12.9-inch model will need about 350. In all, having the set would not be below $1,000 which technically falls under the MacBook price range. Take note that the Apple notebook price starts at $999 - a complete set that gets anyone to work immediately.

Going beyond that price comparison, there are apps to worry about. It remains that some apps still fall short of addressing the needs of people when it comes to productivity. Folks looking for older apps may run into trouble, especially when they are sent files that need to be opened by them. It is a constraint that could be resolved with the right steps. But the point here is that a lot of tweaking is needed, Slash Gear reported.

The iPad Pro is an impressive handy and powerful machine to carry anywhere but may not yet be at that point where it can compete with a PC or MacBook. Apple is getting there but it remains that most would likely prefer a MacBook or laptop than undergo the necessary adjustments to get their tasks done with ease.
