Sam Smith thinks that an album titled To Die For doesn't feel right at this time when many people have died and continue suffering from the coronavirus pandemic. The singer decided not only to rename his upcoming album but also to delay its release.

Fans of Smith have to wait a little longer for his new album. The singer announced on his social media accounts that he will delay the release of his upcoming LP, making him the latest artist to postpone the release of their album because of COVID-19. Singers suc h as Lady Gaga, Kehlani, Willie Nelson, and Haim earlier announced the same.

This is the second time Smith pushed back the release of the To Die For album. It was originally slated for release on May 1 but pushed back to June 5. There was no reason given for the first delay but it can be assumed that it was also due to COVID-19.

The "Lay Me Down" singer said he has thought about his decision for weeks. Smith said he felt like the title of the album and its release doesn't feel right at the moment.

"I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions," Smith wrote.

Though the album will not be released soon, Smith said he will still bring out new music in the coming months. He also assured his fans that the album will be released this year. The supposed new LP will be Smith's first full-length since his hit album The Thrill of It All in 2017.

The Grammy-winning singer released the single "To Die For" last month. It was the follow up to his "How Do You Sleep?" and "Dancing with a Stranger" featuring former Fifth Harmony member Normani last year. Aside from the three songs, also included on the album's initial tracklist of To Die For album were the songs "I Feel Love," "Promises," and "Fire on Fire."

In his interview on the Zach Sang Show in October, Smith revealed that it took him two years to finish the new album. He also teased that it will have a less ballad-driven direction.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old crooner earlier performed at the virtual benefit concert for coronavirus relief, titled The iHeart Living Room Concert for America. The benefit concert was hosted by Elton John. Among the artists who also performed from their homes are Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Tim McGraw, Billie Ellish, Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, and H.E.R.
