Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently announced the name of their new foundation. While it makes a lot of sense why they chose such a name for their charity, not everyone is a fan.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new foundation name is called Archewell. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared that they were inspired by the word “Arche” for their new foundation, which is also the name of their son.

"Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of Arche - the Greek word meaning source of action. We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son's name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters,” the couple said. “Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon."

However, people are not as impressed with the name as many may expect. Some even compared it to two controversial brands such as Tom Cruise’s religion and Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness and lifestyle company.

"The Archewell thing sounds like a mix of Scientology and Goop,” one wrote. "Archewell is... just a really terrible name. It doesn’t make sense. Are any branding and PR people actually giving advice or being listened to?" another one shared. "#Archewell sounds like a foot care product people would put in their shoes," one Twitter user wrote. Some also said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new foundation name sounds like “dog food” and a “City Hedge Fund.”

But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also received support from those who like the name of their new charity.

"Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's New Non-Profit "Archewell" named after their Son Archie. How Cute!” one wrote. "I can’t wait to find out what the #Archewell Organisation will focus on - when they are ready to formally announce it. Love the name,” another one shared.

Even though Queen Elizabeth supported Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down as senior royals, the couple is not exempted from facing the consequences of their actions. Aside from losing their HRH titles and the Duke of Sussex’s military title, they will also be banned from using the word “royal” in their future activities.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle then released a statement that they had no intention of using the “Sussex Royal” brand after they officially leave their roles. Reports then claimed that the couple was set to close down their Sussex Royal Foundation as they start their new life outside the Royal family.
