The Redmond-based tech giant launched the Microsoft Surface Go tablet a couple of years ago. The 2 in 1 tablet earned hot reception from consumers and scored praises from users. Based on a new report, it looks like the fan-favorite tablet is going to have a new predecessor, which at this point, is rumored to be called Microsoft Surface Go 2.
Microsoft Surface Go 2 Release Window
The latest scoop comes from MSPoweruser, which claims that the Microsoft Surface Go 2 is arriving a few weeks from now. The assumption right now is that the successor of the popular Microsoft tablet might arrive in mid-May. Traditionally, Microsoft holds its developer conference during May.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, the said event, purportedly dubbed as Microsoft's Build conference, could be a digital-only event happening between May 19 and May 21. There is a high probability that the Redmond-based tech giant might launch the Microsoft Surface Go 2 at the event. But, if we check the event, Microsoft Build is usually focused on Windows updates, so seeing the new 2 in 1 tablet at the event is still vague at this point.
Microsoft Surface Go 2 Specs And Features
Insider sources earlier revealed that the Microsoft Surface Go 2 will house the 8th generation Intel Core M3-8100Y dual-core processor. If we compare the rumored processor with the performance of the Pentium Gold 4415Y housed on the Microsoft Surface Go, there seems to be not much difference. The upcoming tablet is also rumored to feature 8 GB of RAM, Intel UHD 615 graphics, and a 256 GB Solid State Drive.
The Microsoft Surface Go 2 is rumored to retail at $399 for its most basic variant and is anticipated to cost up to $650 for the higher specs version with LTE connectivity. This underlines the possibility that Microsoft will release non-LTE and LTE variants of the Surface Go 2. These impressive specs of the upcoming Microsoft tablet could challenge Apple's iPad Air.
The standard variant of the iPad Air retails at $499 and only has 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. At present, the Microsoft Surface Go is out of stock at Microsoft Store. This leads many fans to speculate that the May launch and a release window of the Microsoft Surface Go 2 is really happening. The leaked details about the Microsoft Surface Go 2 are impressive, but these are not yet official. In this case, fans should take this information with a grain of salt and with skepticism.
