The buzz about the rumored One Direction reunion is getting louder after members Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson have refollowed Zayn Malik on Twitter. For Directioners, this is a major sign that the much-awaited reunion is finally happening.
Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Niall, Harry, Liam, and Louis have refollowed Zayn on the social media platform. However, it was unclear if it happened recently or if any of the four have unfollowed him in the past. Nonetheless, it's enough to make Directioners speculate that a reunion is already in the works.
Moreover, fans have also noticed that the members have also refollowed the official One Direction Twitter account, their former website has been reactivated, and all of their five albums are also backed on Apple Music. One fan has also noticed that Malik is no longer listed as an ex-member of the Brit group on Google search.
For the past years, Niall, Harry, Liam, and Louis never discounted any possibilities to perform with each other again on stage. However, none of them have mentioned working with Zayn again. In fact, there has been some unpleasant Twitter exchange between Malik and some members of the group in the past.
The "Pillowtalk" singer left the group in 2015. The four remaining members of 1D eventually went into indefinite hiatus in late 2015 after they released their album, Made in the A.M.
Harry recently renewed the public's interest in a 1D reunion after his interview with SiriusXM earlier this month. During the interview, the singer was asked about the possibility of the "What Makes You Beautiful" hitmakers reuniting over a Zoom video call for, say a five-minute social distancing-inspired performance.
"I don't know if that's the reunion we had in mind. I don't know if that would be the way to do it," the "Adore You" singer replied and it immediately caused the hashtag #OneDirectionReunion to trend worldwide on social media.
This also made fans speculate that Harry and the rest of the group are actually talking about a possible reunion. Fans speculate that they could be planning it for the 10th anniversary of One Direction made fans in July 2010.
Then Payne dropped more hints of a reunion. Liam confirmed that he and the rest of the group have been talking for the last couple of weeks about their upcoming anniversary. The singer said they are working on several things but hasn't given any more details on when fans could hear it.
Directioners speculate that Liam could be talking about new music from the group. Many fans believe that the One Direction members could be working on a new song or possibly an album that they would release in time for their anniversary.
