When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced earlier this year that they will be stepping down from being senior royals, many believed that the latter was the driving force behind their decision. Since the Duke of Sussex had been working well as a senior royal up until he married the former actress, some royal fans are convinced that she made him do it.
Now, an unearthed article seemed to show what Meghan Markle really thinks about being a part of the Royal family. While many thought that Royals live a fairytale-like life, the Duchess of Sussex, allegedly, compared it to being a servant.
“She had no idea how un-glamorous it really is to be a royal and when she found out she would be a civil servant in a tiara, she was like, ‘no way,’” Royal writer Ashley Pearson wrote.
Meghan Markle was known to being politically driven. But after she became a member of the Royal family, she had to disregard her political opinions as the Royals are supposed to stay neutral.
However, writer Tom McTague pointed out that Meghan Markle’s advocacies as a Royal are still linked to politics.
“Another problem the pair appear not to understand is their desire to be progressive – but seemingly without the controversy and criticism that comes from taking a stance on issues of public debate,” he said. “At heart, it’s unclear whether Harry and Meghan realize being progressive is not an apolitical act. Climate change is not apolitical. Even mental health is not apolitical. These issues, which the couple has voiced their opinion on, come with real, important and political questions attached.”
Last month, David Spade said that Meghan Markle may have thought that she will live a fairytale life after marrying Prince Harry in 2018. But then she realized that being a part of the Royal family is not like what she expected.
“I feel like she gets swept off her feet like the dream,” the Saturday Night Live actor said on an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. “She goes over to England and she has this crazy wedding and she’s literally royalty but then it gets a little mundane and she’s like, ‘All right, let’s head back to LA. I’ve got to go to my Cold Reading class on Pico again and just get back into acting.’ I think the fun part was over and now she sort of got a little bored.”
