WARNING: This article may have some spoilers for NCIS season 17 finale. Read at your own risk.

Timothy McGee is one of the most interesting and relatable characters within the NCIS world. The character evolved over time, which was further shown in the season 17 finale, titled "The Arizona." Now that we've seen more of McGee's evolution, is there a big episode coming for him in NCIS season 18?

The mentioned episode wasn't meant to be the season finale, but the series chose this as an alternative ending due to the current global health crisis. But although it wasn't the original season finale, the episode likely set up big things for McGee, as well as Delilah in NCIS season 18.

There is a big episode coming up for McGee and Delilah, which was supposed to air in the previous installment. But due to the current situation, that episode will now likely be part of the upcoming NCIS season 18. Hence, McGee and Delilah will have essential stories entering the new installment.

In a report via TV Insider, executive producer Frank Cardea said that the McGee-Delilah episode will play out in NCIS season 18. He also mentioned that the series will bring back the opioids storyline, which was first featured at the end of season 16.

There were reportedly two scripts completed and ready to go, and one of which was the McGee-Delilah episode. It looks the series isn't wasting any of its scripts that have been plotted in season 17 and may be carried out in the upcoming NCIS season 18.

Meanwhile, although "The Arizona" wasn't meant to be the original season finale, the episode still featured some emotional and interesting stories. Gibbs and the team investigate the 95-year-old Joe Smith, who claims he served on the U.S.S. Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

However, Joe's claim was questionable at first, especially after the team found out he's in the early stages of dementia. But, Gibbs still believes in Joe's claim, as he sees a father in this man. The interrogation room scene was also heartbreaking and one of the best parts of the season.

In the end, the team was able to prove Joe's claim -- but sadly after his death. The piece of shrapnel in Joe's arm matched the part of the ship on display in a museum. Joe got what he wanted; his ashes interred on Arizona -- with Gibbs in attendance.
