The Nokia 7.3 is scheduled to come out later this year but it appears HMD Global has yet to finalize one spec of the upcoming mobile phone. The company is reportedly working on several prototypes as they try to figure out what kind of built-in rear camera the handset will come out with.
HMD Global is reportedly working on several prototypes, one with a 48 MP camera and another with 64 MP. For those who may not know, the Nokia 7.2 came out with a 48 MP camera last time out and chances are this is an option if upgrading the camera causes some problems from within. If the 48 MP camera remains, some slight tweaks may be made to help improve quality image captures during the day and especially at night, Nokia Power User reported.
But most now the big difference a higher megapixel count brings. A 64 MP main camera would be truly appealing. Regardless of what HMD Global decides, the only thing certain is the main camera will have a ZEISS glass in front of it.
Aside from the cameras, the prototypes being tested may not entirely be due to the camera that HMD Global wants to arm it with. 5G capability is the new norm in most handsets these days and the Nokia 7.3 is likely being tested for it. One prototype allegedly has 5G capability while the other does not. Similar to the main camera, this may depend again if adding the feature does not complicated things from within.
Little has been known about the Nokia 7.3 for now. GSM Arena notes how the upcoming device will come with a macro module which could be fairly similar to the Nokia 8.3 5G. This phone model had a 64 MP, 12 MP and a duo of 2 MP shooters. Upfront, folks who love taking selfies will love what HMD Global has planned. The front-facing camera will get a boost in terms of megapixel count, allegedly a 24 or 32 MP camera upfront. The Nokia 7.2 came out with a 20 MP sensor.
The SoC that will provide power to the Nokia 7.3 has yet to be confirmed as well although there are suggestions that it could be a Snapdragon 765 chipset. Its predecessor had an S660 chipset.
Original plans were to have the Nokia 7.3 launch by August or September. But with the COVID-19 pandemic altering schedules, these plans could be moved. The Nokia 7.3 is expected to be unveiled alongside the Nokia 9.3, a 5G capable phone that will allegedly have a 108 MP main camera.
