Arsenal FC has several players on its target list and one includes Axel Disasi of Reims. The Gunners made an offer for the 22-year-old defender back in January but Reims rejected the bid. It appears that they wanted something more and the actual numbers they have in mind are out in the open.

According to RMC Sport, the French club wants £13 million for Disasi aside from seeking other add-ons and a percentage of any sell-on fee. Arsenal is not the only one in pursuit of the French footballer with three other teams also interested in getting him. However, not one has met the set price of The Reds and Whites. The Gunners are expected to sit down and discuss with Stade de Reims in the coming days.

Disasi is just one of the targets that Mikel Arteta fancies as he tries to make the most out of the current football lull. It is no secret that the Gunners are expected to spend big by the next transfer window and the 38-year-old is busy planning for different scenarios ahead.

"I’m not a person that likes improvising a lot so yeah we have to know the circumstances can change every week and we have to be prepared as a club to react to that and adapt," Arteta said.

The interest in Disasi has left some befuddled, especially since William Saliba is due to return. They signed the 19-year-old last year from Saint-Etienne and sent him back but on loan. Saliba is expected to be inserted in the starting team, especially after he proved his worth at Ligue 1. Regardless of his return, it appears Arteta is taking no chances as he continues to pursue the French defender.

Arsenal has other targets in mind although they have limited funds to spend this summer. Other players linked to the Gunners include Thomas Partey and Layvin Kurzawa. There is also Rodrigo Moreno on Arteta's radar, someone who could be insurance in case Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang pushes through with plans to move out of Arsenal, The Sun reported.

Arteta has a long list of targets although not all may be securable. Part of the reason for limited funds is the COVID-19 pandemic which will leave a big hole in the budget of several teams. With affected revenue this season, teams are likely to tighten up their belts and save off on acquiring high-priced talent. Arsenal may have to make moves themselves and the task of doing that falls on the shoulders of Arteta.
