After three years of living at the White House, Melania Trump is finally performing as a true First Lady of the United States. According to a body language expert, Melania now sees herself as a partner to Trump and not just her trophy wife.
Donald and Melania Trump are used to getting the spotlight even before the former got elected at the 45th President of the United States. But since his inauguration in January 2017, they have been in a broad and brighter stage.
Body language expert Judi James said at first Melania took a low-key status while her husband governs the country. According to James, Trump adopted an entrepreneurial approach to power rather than presidential.
This means he must have all the attention and no status-sharing with his wife. Melania often stood in the background and not trying to attract attention or stole the spotlight from POTUS. However, this changed.
James noticed that lately, Melania seems to have finally realized her role in the White House as she becomes more popular in her own right. James told Express that instead of just shadowing her husband, Melania now spontaneous waves and connected to her audience.
These suggest growing confidence in her as she becomes less cautious about upstaging Trump. The body language expert added Melania became more confident as FLOTUS and her body language suggested she started to consider herself as equal to her husband.
"Melania seemed to drop the model posing and opted for a pseudo-military stance instead, using symmetric poses with her shoulders squared and arms straight down at her sides," James observed.
This seems to be a little contrary to the upcoming unauthorized biography of Trump's wife. According to Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump author Mary Jordan, the 49-year-old former model is not a reluctant First Lady like many believed.
Jordan said she found Mrs. Trump is more politically ambitious and far more influential in the White House than most people realize.
"She is already gearing up for 2020, and she wants to win as much as her husband does," said Jordan, who interviewed FLOTUS as her capacity as a reporter for the Washington Post.
Meanwhile, in the past weeks, Melania Trump has been very active in helping the government's effort in stopping the spread of coronavirus in the U.S. She has released several PSAs to relay to the public some CDC guidelines on how to stay safe during the pandemic. She also recently paid the American frontline responders in the U.S.
