Microsoft is best known for its Surface products and the Surface Go is something that has been heard less of the past years. But it appears a successor in the works and the Microsoft Surface Go 2 could be out in the open as early as next month.
Rumors of a Microsoft Surface Go 2 made rounds last month. It is a cheaper alternative to the company's Surface Pro and Surface laptop, a device that could be bought for a reasonable $399. But despite being the cheaper alternative, specs remain important. And based on recent leaks it appears that potential buyers will not be disappointed.
When it does come out, most may find nothing significant on the outside. The Surface Go 2 will continue to sport the same keyboards and accessories according to Windows Central although the display is the first thing that will capture the attention of most. It will now tote a 10.2-inch display that will boast of 1920x1200 pixel resolution. This should account for better display rendering but the power from within needs to be spot on.
The final word on what kind of processor the Surface Go 2 will carry remains unknown. It boils down to a choice between an Intel Pentium Gold 4425Y and an Intel Core m3-8100Y chipset. Regardless of which SoC it comes with, other alleged specs include an Intel HD (or UHD) Graphics 615 GPU, possibly 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage. There are also options for 128 GB SSD. Folks who feel that the storage offering is not enough can turn to microSD media storage expansion, Slash Gear reported.
Other features include the traditional connectivity options like a USB-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a single proprietary Surface Connect connection. It is speculated to come with Windows Hello facial recognition. The only downside with the latest rumors on the Microsoft Surface Go 2 is that it will only be available in a platinum shell. However, this is subject to change.
The projected price for the Microsoft Surface Go 2 is around $399. More official specs on what to expect should be revealed in the coming weeks. The scheduled reveal of the Surface Go 2 is this coming May, likely to be also done online due to the COVID-19 issue. With most holding off investments on gadgets due to budgeting, the Microsoft Surface Go 2 looms as a sensible device to get and keep people productive wherever they may be.
