Blake Griffin has not exactly had a great NBA season, plagued with injuries that have kept him from seeing action with the Detroit Pistons. With the league indefinitely suspended, the lull could help guys like the former NBA Rookie of the Year heal up and return good as ever.

Griffin was spotted over in Los Angeles, seemingly trying to work off sweat and burn some calories with nothing much to do, TMZ Sports reported. Like most, the 31-year-old is trying to make the most out of the break and was spotted shirtless with only a strap tied across his torso. Griffin fled Detroit and went back to LA, likely before lockdowns were strictly enforced.

With most advised to stay indoors, it is a bit surprising Griffin getting himself in shape outdoors. COVID-19 cases have been spiking but the 6-foot-9 forward may have been doing these insecure areas around where he resides.

Looking ahead, Griffin's future is on shallow water. Playing only 18 games this season, the Pistons barely got something out of the top pick of the 2009 NBA Draft. The last injury he had to endure was caused by his knees and such has been a concern not only for Detroit and other teams who may consider him.

But when Griffin is on the floor, he does put up good numbers. He averaged 15.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. Though these are far from his usual career numbers, Griffin remains a reliable player any team may consider.

Griffin admitted to the Detroit Free Press that he is unsure of his future. There are murmurs that he could be sent off by the Pistons, especially now that the club is overhauling its roster.

"When the time comes, I’ll have that conversation to see where we’re at and go from there,” Griffin said

The time off could help him recover better from his injuries although teams who could be interested in taking him in are likely to ask for some medical clearance. But a return this season may no longer make sense if the NBA decides to resume games. Griffin is likely to hold off and await what the offseason has for him.

Griffin is in the third year of a five year deal worth $171 million. He has two years left in his current pact where he will earn roughly $75 million more. The burly forward officially becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
