George and Amal Clooney are among the celebrities who attended the highly-publicized royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018. Obviously, they are close friends. But a tabloid put another meaning to this friendship and accused George and Meghan of communicating secretly behind their spouses' backs.
In the latest issue of New Idea that also featured a photo of Clooney and Meghan in its cover, it suggested that the two are having an affair. A source told the tabloid that George, Amal, Meghan, and Harry have a WhatsApp group where they could keep in touch with each other.
However, the insider alleged that the Suits actress and Clooney are having one-on-one private chats. Apparently, Amal was furious when she found out about the secret conversation. The human rights lawyers, reportedly, find it rude, especially since she was the one who encouraged them all to be friends.
The actor's close friendship with the Duchess of Sussex, allegedly, created a "fresh crisis" in his marriage to Amal. But then again, the source backtracked on its story and claimed that Amal trusts that Meghan and George wouldn't do anything.
"It's more about honor and behaving in an appropriate manner - not having these secretive conversations behind her back," the source said.
Gossip Cop pointed out that the New Idea "cheating" claim is too much for what it really alleged in its inside story about the text exchange between Clooney and Markle. The publication also debunked the claim that it was Amal who encouraged everyone to be friends. The publication noted that Harry and the Gravity actor have been friends for years because of their philanthropic initiatives.
The Duke of Sussex introduced her then-girlfriend Meghan to George and Amal and that led to their double dates. The two women clicked immediately and Amal became Meghan's "confidante" especially during her relocation from Canada to the U.K.
Moreover, George Clooney has been one of the royal couple's friends who spoke out and defended them against the rumors and criticisms that Harry and Meghan have been enduring since they got married. In an interview with WHO last year, the Ocean's Eleven actor compared the public scrutiny on Meghan to Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.
Clooney said the former actress has been chased and insulted in the same way as Diana. He also expressed his frustration about the leaked letter of Meghan to her father, Thomas Markle.
