Britney Spears recently shared on Instagram her video dancing to Justin Timberland's "'Filthy" wherein she also praised her ex-boyfriend as a "genius." Timberland responded to the post and wrote some emojis on his comment. This sent fans into a frenzy but also sparked speculations about the ex-couple and one of these involved their respective current partners.
According to the National Enquirer, Timberlake is in trouble with his wife, Jessica Biel, because of his online interactions with Spears. The tabloid claimed Biel "hit the roof" over Timberlake trading online comment with Spears.
"Jessica isn't buying Justin's excuses that they're just being friendly and has told him to stop treating her like a fool!" a source told the outlet.
Then the National Enquirer mentioned the "SexyBack" singer's cheating rumors last year. It can be recalled that Justin got into a dating scandal with his Palmer co-star Alisha Wainwright after they were photographed holding hands at a bar in New Orleans last year.
Timberlake addressed the incident in December. In his post on Instagram, he denied the rumor and publicly apologized to his wife and family for his lapse in judgment.
But Biel is allegedly not the only one that is furious about the ex-lover's exchange of pleasantries on Instagram. Britney's boyfriend, Sam Asghari, was also reportedly upset by the "...Baby One More Time" singer's virtual reunion with the former *NSYNC member.
"He finds it highly insulting, but what can he do? He knows Justin was her first love and has to accept that as long as he dates her, he'll always be this shadow of Justin in some ways," a second source of the tabloid claimed.
Gossip Cop reached out to its sources close to the situation to find out if there is any truth in the Enquirer's story. The insiders confirmed that Biel wasn't bothered at all about her husband's interaction with the "Toxic" singer.
As for the claim that Asghari feels that he will always be a second to Spears' "first love" Timberlake, Gossip Cop pointed out that it has no basis either. Britney is very much in love with Sam and she is very vocal about it.
In many of her recent posts on her social media accounts, the "Oops!... I Did It Again" always mentioned how much she misses her boyfriend. Britney and Sam are spending quarantine separately and they haven't been together since the lockdown started.
Spears and Timberlake dated in 2000. The couple ended their romance three years later.
In December 2002, Justin released the song "Cry Me a River," off from his solo debut album. Its music video sparked controversy as it featured a Britney look-alike. This fueled the rumors that she had been unfaithful to Justin during their relationship.
