Chelsea FC is expected to go after several players but needs to address their current roster. One player who is most likely to be let go is Pedro Rodriguez. All signs point to an imminent exit but the Spanish footballer is not entirely sold on leaving Stamford Bridge. He would love to stick around if Frank Lampard would be open to keeping him.

Judging by how things have gone for the 32-year-old since seeing Pedro still around by next season may be slim. He has been used sparingly, appearing in only nine Premier League games under the watch of Lampard. For someone who is earning £100,000 a week, the investment could be used to fund the acquisition of another player or perhaps used to keeping someone else who has been logging heavy minutes.

Given those circumstances, Pedro wants something definite. If his contract is not renewed, then it would be the end of it. But until that is resolved, Pedro is not entirely closing the doors of possibly staying with the Blues, El Larguero reported.

“The priority right now is completing my contract, then we’ll see what happens,” Pedro said.

Aside from the contract, Pedro may also end up as the odd man out since he would place behind younger rising stars. The list includes Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Willian. Of those names, only Willian has been linked to potential transfers with teams like Arsenal hot on his trail. Like Pedro, Willian is also having contract problems. The Brazilian wants a three-year deal but the Blues are only willing to offer a two-year pact. That is, however, subject to change if Lampard can find a way to tweak the team's budget.

For Pedro, there are at least two teams keen on getting him to their side. These are Roma and Real Bettis, Goal.com reported. Unfortunately, it has become a waiting game for the Spaniard as well. Teams cannot negotiate with players until the current season (and their contract) is concluded. There are plans to restart the season by June 8 and most teams are now recalling their players.

Until that time comes, Pedro will just have to be patient and look at his options once the Blues season is finally over. He seems pretty fine with that, vowing that he will complete his contract and then weighing his options. On whether Chelsea even sits down and talks to him on a new deal is up in the air. But based on the conditions he is in right now, the chances of that are not looking so good.
