Sarah Ferguson is one of the popular members of the British Royal Family, especially back in the day. Royal experts and biographers even deemed her time in the British Monarchy as the "Fergie Fever" because of her impact on the family.

In 1986, she tied the knot with Prince Andrew. Upon marriage, Queen Elizabeth II gifted her second son a dukedom. This is why they received the titles, the Duke and Duchess of York.

While the couple was reportedly a "perfect match," sources claimed that they started having marital problems in 1988, according to Cheat Sheet. It was revealed that Sarah Ferguson spent her first pregnancy "alone" due to the Duke's Naval career.

Despite the challenges, though, their first daughter, Princess Beatrice was then followed by Princess Eugenie in 1990. However, two years after the second pregnancy, the York couple reportedly decided to separate.

Earlier in 1992, the official announcement about their separation was released to the public. It was also noted that following the separation, Sarah would no longer "carry out" royal engagements and events on behalf of the Queen and the Crown.

Months after the announcement, the Duchess of York became the center of many controversies and ridicules. As it happened, several publications released photos of her and John Bryan as she sunbathed topless while the Texan financial manager "sucked" on Sarah Ferguson's toes.

This huge debacle reportedly led the York couple to their divorce in 1996. After the papers were finalized, it was revealed that Sarah would retain her royal style and title. While she would still be referred to as "Her Royal Highness," the preface "The" before the "Duchess of York" title would be eliminated. She has since used the style, Sarah, Duchess of York.

Later on that year, however, Express UK claimed that Queen Elizabeth II issued a "letters patent" regulating all post-divorce titles. In accordance with this, she ceased the HRH style and retained the Duchess of York title. Also, if she chooses to marry in the future, she would lose the title.

The publication then went on to continue that despite Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew's "messy" separation and divorce between 1992 and 1996, they have remained "good friends." In fact, until today, the former couple has been staying together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, along with their youngest daughter Princess Eugenie, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

In terms of reconciliation, royal experts and insiders revealed that Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew love each other, and they are "best friends." However, they are not "in love."
